M&A Insights – Mark Young, Managing Partner, CKS Advisors

Happy New Year and welcome to the January 2020 edition of M&A Insights. Our goal at CKS Advisors is to help you stay up-to-date on the Mergers and Acquisitions climate.

You likely have noticed all the activity in business sales over the last several years. If you are thinking about selling and wondering if 2020 will continue to be a good time to sell- our opinion is that it will be.

Here’s why:

Money to Spend: In 2019, buyers raised a record amount of funds for investment – now they need to spend their money.

Valuations: Remain near record high levels – competition and money to spend have continued to fuel high prices for businesses.

Abundance of Buyers: Strategic buyers continue to look at growth opportunities and Private Equity firms need to grow the companies they have acquired.

Timing: The economy has been strong over the past several years, but one can safely assume it will not last forever. We say, “Sellers need to give a buyer some amount of “runway” to operate” – so, waiting until the economy slows down to sell is not a winning strategy.

With that being said, please let us know if you would like to learn more about transitioning your business. We are always happy to speak with business owners to help them evaluate their transition options.
